What Customers Need to Know
Following Prosperity Bank’s acquisition of American Bank, customers will officially transition to Prosperity Bank this September. Here’s a quick look at the important dates, online banking changes, and a few steps you can take now to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Preparing for the Transition
The transition will affect online banking access, bill pay, debit cards, QuickBooks connections, and other banking services. Some changes will happen automatically, while others will require action from customers before or after the transition.
Logging In
Your username will stay the same, but you’ll need to reset your password after September 14. You can reuse your current password if it meets the new requirements.
Account & Routing Numbers
Your account number will stay the same unless Prosperity Bank notifies you otherwise. Existing payments and payees should continue without needing to be updated as part of the transition.
When setting up a new payee after the transition, use Prosperity Bank’s routing number.
Bill Pay & Recurring Payments
- Schedule bill payments by 3 PM on September 10
- Submit ACH payments by 4 PM on September 10
- Scheduled payments will carry over
- Recurring ACH payments will need to be set up again after the transition
- Save copies of payment information for your records
Checks
You can continue using your current checks until they run out. When it’s time to reorder, use the new Prosperity Bank routing number.
Save Your Statements
Download any statements you’d like to keep by 4 PM on September 11. After that, access to the old online banking system will no longer be available.
QuickBooks Online
If your American Bank account is connected to QuickBooks Online:
- Complete a final transaction download by September 11
- Beginning September 14, disconnect your American Bank connection
- Beginning September 14, reconnect your account to QuickBooks Online.
- Some automatic bank connections may not be available until September 21.
- Be sure to connect to your existing QBO account, not create a new one
Debit Cards
- Continue using your American Bank debit card through September 13
- Active cardholders will receive a new Prosperity Bank Debit Mastercard by mail with activation instructions
- Beginning September 14, activate and begin using your new card. Your American Bank card will be deactivated
A Few Things to Do Now
With several important dates approaching, taking a few steps now can help avoid interruptions during the transition:
- Keep an eye out for transition emails from American Bank
- Download any statements or records you may need
- Review upcoming bill payments and ACH transactions before the September cutoffs
- Watch for your new Prosperity Bank debit card and keep the activation instructions
- If you use Treasury Management services, consider attending an online training session offered now through September 4
As the transition gets closer, keep an eye on communications from American Bank and Prosperity Bank for any updates or instructions specific to your accounts. Taking care of the key steps ahead of time can help make the September transition a little smoother.
